Either that or you knew I had procrastinated once again. Big news though, guys. MORT! Comics may have a new editor-in-chief/co-creative director. I've asked my good friend Ryan Elmore if he wanted to do anything for the comics, and he said "Shoosh yeah!" So I'm gonna hit him with the job description and see if he doesn't run away screaming. Fingers crossed.
Oh yeah. And then there's this.
I finally got MORT! of the week #3 uploaded. If I can get Mr. Elmore hired before next friday, maybe I can see if HE wants to write 'n' draw a few Motw comics. MAYBE.
I suppose we'll see once next week rolls around if Ryan wants to take the job or not. Bear with me, guys. I'll try to be more consistent in my posts, as I should be.
Oh, and it was my birthday a couple of days ago. So yeah. I'm 19 now.

Schoooooool's Out For Sum-mer!
I don't know about you fellas, but I'm finally on my Summer vacation. (Party!) So, in celebration of that fact (not that I don't do this every week anyway :P), I drew Mort took a picture.
I know some of you are sitting at your desks or wheresoever your computer may be and asking yourselves, "When is he gonna put up the next comic?!" Relax. I've got it around here somewhere... I just gotta take the time to sit down and ink those lines. So, until next week, keep it...French?

"...and other comics"
Today, I Fulfill the "...and other comics" portion of this blog with a cover for a comic that will never come to be (but would be really cool if it did. :D)
Recently, I learned the "Rule of Thirds", which is basically dividing your page into horizontal and vertical thirds, and drawing your points of interest at the 4 places where the lines of division cross. For this piece, I folded the paper to find the thirds. You can see the piece, as well as see me upload the lineart, flat colors, and shading when I finish them by clicking on this link. http://drewdini.deviantart.com/ If any of you are wondering what those X's mean, those are indicators as to areas that should be filled in with black. Lot less work for the penciler that way. ;)

I blame math!
Hey guys. Sorry I couldn't get a comic up this week. got BUTTLOADS of math homework I need to catch up on. Well, I guess that's what procrastination does to ya. (Not that you guys have ever seen the effects of my procrastination before... :P)
On the bright side, I remebered to post this week, so that's a sign of improvement...

A Week late, but Not a Comic Short
Alrighty, guys, sorry this one took so long. I procrastinated last week and was uber busy this week. I was gonna upload 2 comics to make up for the skipped week, but I accidentally deleted this week's comic. *sheepish grin* I'll work on retrieving that one and get it uploaded next week. Until then, enjoy this one. I don't think it's my best work, but hey--they can't all be gems. ;)

Back from break with a vengeance
Hey guys. You may have noticed that I haven't updated this thing for three weeks. I can chalk that up to spring break, forgetfulness, and camping, but that's not important, because look what I've got for ya: the start of my weekly e-comic which will eventually become what will be MORT!
I'm planning on updating with a new comic each week, so stay tuned.

MORT!: The Story Part 3
I like the idea of a dynamic duo. Always have. Always will. That’s why I decided Mort would have himself a sidekick. He’ll flip through one or two before finding just the right young ward. One such failed sidekick is “Captain Obvious” whose only real power is his “Super grasp for the extremely obvious”. He’ll constantly be pointing out the obvious to Mort, and Mort will always reply with “Thank you, Captain Obvious.”
Of course, it won’t work out with Captain Obvious, and Mort will have to let him go and find a better sidekick. Chuck’s the duck’s name, and he doesn’t have the best of luck (“Chuck the Bad-Luck Duck”), but he’s got a super-powerful super brain, and so that makes Mort see past Chuck’s hard luck as the asset he really is.
And that's it for the MORT! story. Pop back in next week, n maybe I'll have started up a weekly 3-panel comic for you guys. :)

MORT!: The Story Part 2
As is the norm for comics, every superhero must have a supervillain (or twenty) to counter him, and MORT! is no exception. One day, Mort receives a letter from Dr. Gregory Mason (an old family friend) inviting him to witness the Doc's maiden voyage through his life's work--a pair of teleportation gates. As the Doc fires up the gates, his cat, mittens, begins chasing after Mort, eventually cornering him with nothing between them but the charging gates. Then, the cat pounces, the Doc jumps after it, and everything goes to white as Mort narrowly escapes the explosion brought on by the malfunctioning gates. Out from the rubble crawls Dr. Cat-astrophe, an "unholy fusion of man and cat".
Dr. C.'s got Dr. Mason's brains, body, and feet, and his cat's head, forepawas, and personality, which includes a hatred for rats, fish, and dogs, and a desire to make the people of the world worships cats as the Egyptians did.
Part 3 is comin' at'cha next week, so keep it tuned to MORT!... and other comics.

MORT!: The Story Part 1
Today, I thought I'd fill you guys in on the basic premise of MORT! The story is so awesome, I'm gonna take up three whole posts to tell it all to you guys. *tee-hee*
Mort, at first, has a mundane life (crappy apartment, trouble making rent, works at a convenience store, has a weird hobby (collecting dryer lint) etc.) His doting sister, Rachel, is constantly calling him to check up on him. The (as of yet unnamed) city in which he and she live (on opposite sides, of course) is horribly crime-infested and needs more than its already-overworked police force to bring it around.
One day, as Mort is walking to work at the Gas-N-Go, a red superhero mask falls out of the sky and lands on his face, imbuing his body with superhuman strength and invulnerability (Gary-Sue? Maybe.). Not questioning the origin of this mask (a couple of aliens who had planned on using it for world conquest but accidentally drop it out the window of their U.F.O.), Mort sets off to fight crime in his city.
Stay tuned for Part 2.
EDIT: Gee... The last time I said so much about one of my AWESOME ideas, it got stoled. I won't let it happen this time! I hereby claim MORT! comics and all related characters, logos, storylines, etc. as (C) me.

MORT! 25 Essential Expressions
Hey, everyone! Let's start this blog off proper with MORT! in the 25 Essential Expressions Challenge (which can be found here http://napalmnacey.deviantart.com/art/25-Essential-Expressions-55523083)
And maybe a little intro...
My name's Andrew McClain, and I first came up with MORT! during my junior year in high school. I'm a freshman in college now, and have finally taken the initiative to make something worthwhile out of MORT! I'm working on writing my own INDEPENDANT comic book series starring him, and I hope it will one day rise to the same level as maybe Marvel or DC... or even Archie.
That's all for now. Maybe I'll work on starting up a weekly comic strip with this blog. I dunno. :)
